Designers Annual Convention 2021
The Designers Annual Convention 2021 (DC-21) was held at Prideinn Flamingo Beach Resort & Spa in Mombasa, Kenya from 8th – 10th December 2021. The Convention was a celebration of the power of design and Designer’s role in National Development in Kenya.
As part of Professional Development event that sharpens Designers’ Professional and Business Acumen Skills, the convention encompassed presentation of papers, sessions, panel discussions, demonstrations, discussions among other models of presentations. The convention provided insights on Design Technologies & Innovations as well as promotion of the Sustainable Design Projects & Business Development Agenda.
Convention Sub-themes; Design Industry status in Kenya, Professional Ethics, Administration and Industry Regulation, Adoption of Circular Economy; Green & Sustainable Technologies in Interior Design practice, Global Design Thoughts and Discourse, Design industry opportunities and Extended Designer’s Responsibilities.
2023 Annual Designers Conference
Association of Designers of Kenya with support of the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing & Urban Development held its 3rd Annual Designers Conference at Lake Naivasha Resort from 11th – 15th December 2023. The theme, Design for a Sustainable Future: Empowering Communities through Bottom up Designs, brought together interior designers, creative designers, product design development professionals, policymakers, educators, and entrepreneurs and discussed the potentials of bottom-up economics in creating a sustainable design future. Specifically, the conference:
i) Explored the principles and practices of design that support local economies and empower communities.
ii) Sought to promote sustainable development practices and social equality principles for economic transformation in all aspects of design.
iii) Advocated for policy changes that create an enabling environment for professional design growth and development, poverty reduction and social inclusion
